An incredibly rare American Prohibition era, tall silver plated ‘fire hydrant’ cocktail shaker with removable internal ice chamber, CIrma 1920s, stamp marked to the base ‘The Zeeronator Beverage Chiller, New York’. In remarkably good condition, this unusual piece of vintage barware has a wooden top handle which unscrews to reveal the ice chamber. The whole chamber is removed to fill the shaker, and the finished cocktail is poured through the side spout.

This unusual piece of antique barware was crafted when Prohibition was declared in USA when it became illegal to buy, sell or drink alcohol (from 1920-1933), which resulted in an explosion of ‘home use’ cocktail making. If a cocktail shaker didn’t look like a cocktail shaker, it was ‘an ornament, Officer’… The Zeeronator makes sure to declare itself a ‘beverage cooler’ not a cocktail shaker!
